Amazing Price for AutoCAD Clone
I suggest that you try this for 30 days free at the Corel website. You can save and print and have a completely functional trial. That is how I first tested this product and am now a big fan. I am only 2 weeks into my free trial, so I was very excited to get the full version on Vine. It is also notably cheaper on Amazon than on the Corel site.
After trying it out, all I can say is that what I like most is it works seamlessly with Corel Draw and AutoCAD. In fact, it feels almost identical to to AutoCAD in form and function. You can customize it to your own preferences. With this, you can get all of the capabilities without having to be forced to pay for autocad. However, I learned on AutoCAD, so I am pleased to not have to waste much gray matter learning anything new (God knows I am running low).
Prior to trying this out, I had been using shareware Draft Site on my laptop because my (slightly) older AutoCAD version was too huge and ran slowly. Draft Site was 2D, but it worked with DWG files and was great for the price :) And honestly, it worked fine for how I use it.
However, using this one with the compatibility smoothness and 3D ability is kind of cool. Plus this thing FLIES when using it, no lag at all.
I have not yet had to contact support, so I can't speak to that. However, I have used other Corel products in the past (and present) and support has historically been excellent. It also claims to be easy to collaborate with others, but almost all programs offer the DWG file format so that kind of solved that for us a while ago. If I notice anything more incredible about it in the coming weeks, I will update.
In summary: this is a great CAD program that doesn't make a huge footprint like AutoCAD but looks and feels as if you are running the far more expensive AutoCAD. It starts up quickly and the internal functioning also moves very rapidly. I am very impressed. Highly Recommend! Try it first, but come back and buy it here...the best price I have seen for it so far.

At last, 3D CAD at a lower cost....
Working very smoothly on my i7 920 , 6gb of Corsair Dominator DDR3 ram running at 1600, GeForce GTX 285 , Asus P6T Deluxe MB, Vista 64 OS. latest drivers and updates for all hardware and software etc.
Fast boot ups and rendering without any lockups or glitches, looks really great on a 1920 x 1200 24" Lenovo monitor.
Now, if only there were some good video tutorials to get going with... going to the CorelCAD site through the link within the software will not find much help. I realize that this is a new release but they should have known and had some in place before the release. The CorelCAD forum is also very new with only a few helpful posts so far. I'm sure things will improve with some time and users will be able to get up to speed on it's operation. You can get to their CorelCAD web pages directly from the "help/about" tab with the hot link found there.
It does have a good "help" section within CorelCAD and will get anyone working in the right direction.
Areas of the Corel web site for CorelCAD seems to be missing or very sparse right now.
First thing I wanted to do, (as I do with all new installs) is check for updates from within the software. Does not seem to be a way to do this as you can with other Corel titles. I'm guessing because this really was not written by Corel but by another company and then purchased by Corel. (Corel seems to be doing that lately)
Also missing as far as I can tell are some 3D samples to load up right off... I find that if I load a completed example and modify that, I can pick up on the software operation quicker than starting from scratch on a blank page. There are a few 2d drawings you can load, but can't find a 3d file to view. I think most would want to get a 3D image up to rotate and play with ASAP. Maybe I missed it, but looked at all files and folders for one.
I do see that although CorelCAD can export many files, it can't import some. CorelCAD forum says this should change in the future. I hope they mean with updates and not with new title releases.
In case it happens to you, my install seemed to take a bit of time with the install window bar graph stuck at max for enough time to make me worry about a crash.... but then finally popped up with the "finished" window. My installed folder size is only 197mb
Registration and activation was a bit weird as well for some reason. When at the Corel activation/registration web page from within CorelCAD screen they ended by giving me another long code to enter in the program to activate it saying that I might have to restart CorelCD to do so.
I copied the code but never found a need to use it even on a reboot of the program. CorelCAD itself states that it is "activated" at this point even though a confirmation Email from Corel once more states that you need to enter it to proceed. Waiting for the other shoe to drop, but so far things are working just fine.
I am NOT a proficient CAD user so will not even attempt to find fault with, or praise for, features found in this software, I'm sure people with CAD experience will review this in time and give us all the insight needed to make a purchase or not. While this might be an easy program to pick up on if you have used other CAD software, it is not so simple to get started on when you have so many choices and options facing you. A very good thing to have so much control, but can overwhelm someone at first.
I've always wanted to get into 3D design, hope they get some good tutorials and training up soon... there is at least one video at Corel site from a user showing his work with a 3D chair design to give you good feeling about what it can do and was happy to see that it can do color fills and not just wire 3d.
I'll certainly be back here to brag about what I've learned and what I've found out about this new release of CorelCAD in due time.
